HP OmniBook 7 AI Laptop 14-fr0116TU network suddenly performing low on a 2.4 Ghz connection. 

 

When connected to same network from two different laptop, entirely different speed is attained.

 

HP OmniBook 7:
Download: 3.38 mbps

Upload: 6.18 mbps

 

Lenovo laptop (older PC):
Download: 100.24 mbps

Upload: 100.64 mbps

 

I've tried updating my drivers, resetting modem. Nothing worked. When connected to 5 Ghz modem it's working fine. Seeking guidance and help from experts. Thanks in advance.

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

 

Thanks for reaching out. If your OmniBook 7 is slow only on 2.4 GHz while 5 GHz works fine, try these quick steps:

 

Open Device Manager → Network Adapter → your Wi-Fi adapter → Advanced.
Make sure Wireless Mode = Auto, Preferred Band = No Preference, and Channel Width (2.4 GHz) = 20 MHz.

 

On your router, set the 2.4 GHz channel to 1, 6, or 11 and make sure channel width is 20 MHz. Restart the router.

 

Turn off power saving for Wi-Fi.
Device Manager → Wi-Fi adapter → Power Management → uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device.”

 

Reset the Wi-Fi settings on Windows:
– Open Command Prompt (Admin) and run:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
netsh advfirewall reset
Restart the laptop.

 

If still slow, uninstall the Wi-Fi adapter in Device Manager (check “delete driver”), restart, and let Windows reinstall it.

 

If it still happens only on 2.4 GHz, change the router’s security mode temporarily to WPA2 and test again.
