Hello..

I have a laptop HP Pavilion 15-217ur. I want to upgrade the wifi adapter because I need a new adapter with 5gHz, so I searched about that here in the HP community but I did not find the answer.

I would like to ask if the adapter Intel 3168.NGWG is compatible with my laptop?

If it is not compatible with my laptop, which wifi adapter is compatible?

Hi:

If this is your actual notebook at the link below...

HP Pavilion Notebook - 15-p217ur Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support

The Intel Intel 3168.NGWG most likely will not work.

First of all, in order to upgrade to a dual band Wi-Fi card where both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will work properly, your notebook needs to have two antenna wires to connect to the card.

I believe the HP 15-p2xx notebooks with single band Wi-Fi cards only have one antenna wire.

The only way you can find that info out would be to open up the notebook and check the antenna wire count before buying a dual band card.

If you don't care about Bluetooth and don't want to take the notebook apart first, then I recommend this model Wi-Fi card and part number:

Broadcom BCM 4352 WLAN 802.11 AC+BT4 2x2HMC for AMD HP Pavilion 15 Notebook PC   HP part # 724935-005

Below is the link to the service manual.
