Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Been using this laptop for over the past 7 years now. Without too many issues to be fair, apart from the occasional driver or failed Windows update...

However recently this laptop, that by the way always sits on the same desk, started to randomly lose its connection to the wireless network; which is pretty annoying if I'm honest...

The usual suspects have been performed: restart router/modem, restart wifi extenders, reinstall the driver...

Nothing worked and today I decided let's install from scratch (reinstall windows etc).

At first it seemed ok but then after a couple of hours the disconnections started again...

Does anyone have any further advice on how to try and solve this one?

Or pinpoint if it is a potential hardware failure of some sort?

Hi:

What model Wi-Fi adapter does your notebook come with?

Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn

current driver version : 7.35.352.0

date : 22/11/2016

You have the latest driver for that model wifi adapter.

If you want to open up the notebook and let me know how many Wi-Fi antenna wires are attached to the Broadcom card, I can let you know what Wi-Fi card replacement options you have.

Below is the link to the service manual.

so you think this is a hardware failure?

I'm doubting as it works from time to time and fails from time to time...

I would expect a real hardware failure to manifest itself permanently?

Since you have the latest driver installed and even reinstalled the operating system, I don't know what other options you have to fix the problem other than to replace the wifi card, or buy a USB wifi adapter.
