Hello, i recently started having problems with my HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-cx0008nf, the wifi connexion of the pc randomly cuts after hours i don’t know why, i can’t do anything, it says that it’s connected and secured but the pc thinks there’s no internet (i guess) because i remember, i was watching a Twitch Stream one day and well the internet randomly cut off but the stream video was still going? [but the chat didn’t work when i typed something in it], and everything else except twitch wasn’t working also? another example: spotify doesn’t say there’s no connections like it doesn’t change ui, and another example google chrome when i search something it just keeps loading, i also have another problem which kind of annoys me, before i start up my pc i need to unplug the hdmi cable because if i dont, when the pc is about to boot up windows, it just gives me a black screen on my monitor connected to the laptop with a cursor loading, but my laptops screen itself is conpletely black, i tried reinstalling drivers, for wifi, gpu driver, (also download the 2022 bios update one while i was at it) but it didn’t change anything. This is all weird i don’t know. Oh and also, when i boot up into windows with the hdmi cable unplugged from my monitor, windows boots BUT, i have to login before reconnecting the monitor or else if i connect it at the login screen, the screen just freeze, so i gotta login and then why i see my desktop screen i replug. NVIDIA just released a pilot, i just checked, ill install it and see because i was waiting for one and they actually released one, but for the internet tho i dont know.

Hey! @NOXGOU, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for the detailed breakdown—sounds like you're dealing with two frustrating issues on your HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-cx0008nf:
- Weird intermittent internet problems, where the system says you're connected but nothing works.
- HDMI black screen/freeze during boot and login, unless you unplug the cable first.
Let’s tackle both step-by-step.
Internet Issue – “Connected, Secured” but no actual connection
From what you described (e.g., Twitch stream keeps going but chat and Chrome don’t work), it looks like your PC loses DNS or IPv6/IPv4 routing, not the physical connection. That’s why some things keep going and others die.
Try this set of steps:
Step 1: Reset TCP/IP stack and Winsock
Open Command Prompt as admin and run these:
netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /flushdns
Then restart your PC.
Step 2: Disable IPv6 (temporary test)
Go to:
- Control Panel → Network and Sharing Center
- Click on your Wi-Fi name → Properties
- Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)
Sometimes bad IPv6 handling causes those odd partial connectivity issues.
Step 3: Turn off “Power saving” on your Wi-Fi adapter
- Press Win + X → Device Manager
- Under Network Adapters, double-click your Wi-Fi adapter
- Go to Power Management tab
- Uncheck “Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”
Step 4: Set DNS to Google
- Right-click Wi-Fi icon → Open Network & Internet settings
- Click Change adapter options → right-click Wi-Fi → Properties
- Select IPv4, click Properties
- Set DNS manually to:
Preferred: 8.8.8.8
Alternate: 8.8.4.4
Optional: Try updating Wi-Fi drivers from Intel’s or Realtek’s site directly
The OEM versions can be buggy sometimes. You can identify your chipset and then grab the latest generic driver from their site.
HDMI Boot/Login Black Screen Freeze
This one’s classic “external monitor confusion.” It usually boils down to graphics driver bugs or Windows display detection issues.
Try this combo:
Step 1: Turn off Fast Startup
- Control Panel → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do
- Click “Change settings that are currently unavailable”
- Uncheck Turn on fast startup (recommended)
Fast Startup can confuse GPU initialization especially with HDMI on boot.
Step 2: Update NVIDIA drivers (you mentioned you will)
Be sure to do a clean install:
- Run the installer, choose Custom (Advanced) → Check Clean Installation
Step 3: Set Display Priority in NVIDIA Control Panel
- Right-click desktop → NVIDIA Control Panel
- Under Display > Set up multiple displays → Make sure your laptop screen is set as primary
- Also, under “Adjust desktop size and position”, disable scaling or set to No scaling
Step 4: BIOS Display Option
Some BIOS versions let you toggle Display output priority between internal and external.
- Try accessing BIOS (F10 at boot on HP)
- See if there’s anything like “Display output” or “Graphics settings”
- Set to Auto or Internal first, not “External” or “Last used”.
🔁 If issues persist after the above:
- Create a new local user profile on Windows. Corrupted user profiles can cause display/login freezes and networking bugs.
- You can also try booting into Safe Mode with networking and see if the issues still happen. That can help isolate drivers/services.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
