HP Pavilion g6-1d98dx Notebook PC

Pavilion g6 1d98dx
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi,

My notebook won't connect to wireless networks anymore. It is not a problem with the network, because other computers can connect easily.

Thanks.

if the network is getting listed, please uninstall the wireless driver from device manager and restart the PC and try to connnect.

Thank you for your response. There are no available networks and the wireless driver appears to be missing. I've tried to reinstall but it is not recognized.

since the driver or the wireless card is not listed on the device manager. i would recommend you to reseat the wireless card.

most of the notebooks the wireless card can be reseated.

some notebooks, it cannot be reseated.

Please share the product number that usually ends with UA#aba or similar to that.

that will help me send you a link, that shows the procedure to reseat the wireless card (if it can be reseated).

please find the  link of the service manual meant for your PC below.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03094202

refer to page 24 to find the access door meant for the wireless card.

Before your open the access door or remove any parts, make sure you unplug the adapter (power cord) and remove the battery

hold down the power button to drain the static.

then proceed to open and reseat the wireless card.

some models have 1 cable meant for antenna and some have 2 cables meant for antenna.

refer to page 47 to reseat the wireless card.

if you are not comfortable in reseating the wireless card.

you can call hp techincal support on 1-800-474-6836 to get the service options.

If the PC is OOW, there would be a fee applicable for the service.

Alternately, you can also reinstall the Operating system to check if the wireless card gets detected and the driver installed.

Make sure you backup your data before you reinstall the operating system.
