I can connect to my Epson XP-640 from my iPhone and Surface Pro3, but I can't connect to it with my HP laptop.

I reset the Xfinity router (dual band) and tried both 2.4 and 5 Gig service. However, as stated the other devices are on 5.0 and finds the printer without problem.

So my question is how do I discover if the problem is a hardware issue or software issue. I tried all of the HP connection wizards and trouble shooting.

In fact the Epson connect utility doesn't find the printer either. Any ideas?

Thank you.

Hi

Ideas yes lots, sensible ideas not so many.

First I would want to know the IP addresses of all the 4 devices you mention.

Then what WiFi adapter your HP has, EG:

Wireless connectivity
Intel® Wireless-AC 9560 802.11b/g/n/ac (2x2) Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® 5 Combo

Then perhaps a ping from the HP to the Epson, depending the answers to the above.

If in doubt please ask.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I did try and ping the Epson but no result. I could ping it from a different computer on my network without any issues.

Therefore, I tried one last thing. I used windows network troubleshooter and entered the IP address of the printer to see why that website was being blocked and I found the solution.

It seems my VPN, although, not used and not active had an active firewall that blocked these connections. So it is fixed now.

Thanks for giving me a starting point.

Prego.

Sorta sorted?
