HP Spectre x360 doesn't connect to 2.4 GHz band

HP Recommended
HP Spectre x360 Convertible 13-ap0xxx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Spectre x360 (early 2019) doesn't switch from 5 GHz to 2.4 GHz as it's supposed to even though the WiFi adapter supports both bands. I notice that when I get a little farther from my router, my laptop stays at 5 GHz and then disconnects. My router name shows up, but it has 0 bars. Sometimes it shows 2-3 bars and when I try to connect it says 'Some information has changed since connecting to the network' and doesn't connect at all. I have another exact same x360 which changes from 5 GHz to 2.4 GHz as needed and the network connection in that works flawlessly.

I've tried resetting my network settings, updating the WiFi adapter driver to the latest from the intel site, switching off and turning back on both the laptop and router, reinstalled the driver by deleting and then restarting. So far none seem to work.

Network adapter name: Intel (R) Wireless-AC 9560 160MHz

Driver version: 21.90.3.2

This laptop was recently bought and is in it's second day of use. Is this a hardware issue?

Thanks for your assistance.
