USB-C G5 5TW10AA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just connected up my new dock - when connecting the dock, the network says it connects at 1gbps but it only gets speeds of 100mbps. Speedtest from the internet are around 60-90mbps, when directly connecting to the laptop via ethernet I get speedtest results of 380mbps

All drivers and firmware have been update

Anyone else seen these issues?

Hello

first check is you are using the Realtek driver provided by HP

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp99001-99500/sp99420.exe

version Realtek: v10.33.419.2019

check  firmware of docking

latest is here:

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp100501-101000/sp100820.exe

check 840 G5 BIOS setting,

there should be something like this:

"Enable High Resolution mode when connected to a USB-C DP alt mode dock"
verify that this is "unchecked"

IF none of previous fixed , update the BIOS to latest version. In any case I always suggest to have latest BIOS

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp101501-102000/sp101821.exe

version 01.10.01

Hope one of this actions will provide a better speed.

bye

I'm running the latest drivers and firmware, including the latest bios. I've also got the setting checked mentioned in the bios

Hello

I'm using an 840 G5 and a Thunderbolt Dock G2. the network card of Thunderbolt G2 and USB-C Dock G5 is the same.

In my case I can't use Internet to check the speed because I have a slow connection, down speed only 12 Mbps.

So I copied a file from my 840 G% to a share on another computer. Both computers are connected to same 1GB LAN switch, va LAN cable.

I transfert speed get the maximum of 600 Mbps , which is good and for sure above 100 Mbps.

Unfortunately I don't have an USB-C Dock G5 to do a test.

For sure I'll try , once Covid-19 lockdown will finish and I'll be able to go in office.

bye
