HP dv6t-6b00 with Intel Centrino Wireless-N + WiMAX 6150 not connecting to any wireless networks.

HP dv6t-6b00 Laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I currently own a HP dv6t-6b00, Product Number QJ920AV#ABA Laptop with Bios F.1b 10/23/2012 and the

INTEL Core I7-2820QM. My WiFi adapter is an Intel Centrino Wireless-N + WiMAX 6150. The computer came configured with Windows 7 Pro. A few weeks ago, I got the free Windows 10 Pro upgrade, and now I can not connect to any wireless networks.

I tried to update the drivers of my Wimax 6150 but I received a message saying that Windows 10 does not support any drivers for that adapter. I contacted both HP Support and Windows support unsuccessfully.

Is there any Wireless network adapter (White listed or not) that I can use in my dv6 with Windows 10? Or,

Are there any drivers that are supported by Windows 10 that will work with my current wireless adapter?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can help!!

Hi:

You would only be able to replace the wireless cards with one listed in the service manual for your notebook and at least two of the part numbers for some of them are incorrect, such as the Intel 6230.

And I would have to say that most of the others listed won't work on W10 either.  Maybe the Broadcom one will.  Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and 20702 Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter  HP Part # 657325-001

I found this thread at the link below...one guy (dcasciato) got the 6150 work by using the Intel driver update utility.

Thank you Paul for your fast reply!!

I tried the Intel Utility in every way possible without success... I will take your advice and install the  Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and 20702 Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter  HP Part # 657325-001. I will keep you posted, perhaps I can still resolve this issue.

Thanks again for your support!!

Best regards,

AJ

You're very welcome, AJ.

Make sure you get the card with the HP part number on it, not just the model.

The best thing to do is to try and get one in used but tested and working condition on eBay.

Query by the part number and make sure you see the part number shown in the listing photograph.

It should be on a white sticker that states 'Replace with HP Spare.'

Thank you Paul! That is good info. It should take me about a week to get the adapter and install it. I will keep you up to date.

Regards,

AJ
