Having to reset router/modem in the mornings

Hello ,

I did the recovery step but did not reset IE. The wireless adapter that is in device manager was not listed in the recovery drivers selections. ( Intel(R)Dual Band Wireless AC-3165) So I did not delete it. There was a wireless button and Intel  wylan driver for win 10, and a realtec lan driver. I did a recovery on them.

Thanks for hanging in there with me !

"Would it be possible for you to share a screenshot of the device manager with Network adapters expanded?"

Can you give me step by step instructions on how to get the screen shot and put in in the post ?

Thanks.

Having to reset router/modem in the mornings

Hi

Wont load a browser?  Browser opens and a page saying cannot connect, unavailable, unreachable OR timing out??

So it would seem to be a config problem.  If other devices are connecting then the lease time is probably OK.

So the next thing is the IP address, GATEWAY IP address, Netmask and DNS numbers.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>ipconfig -all

Windows IP Configuration
Ethernet adapter Ethernet:

   Connection-specific DNS Suffix  . :
   Description . . . . . . . . . . . : Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller

                                       8.8.4.4
   NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled

Wireless LAN adapter WiFi:

   Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : 17 October 2017 09:03:28

                                       8.8.4.4
   NetBIOS over Tcpip. . . . . . . . : Enabled

You can see my configs, although automatic, my router has assigned the numbers that I specify in the router for cetain things.

Therefore my printer is fixed at .30 and no conflict occurs.  My WiFi is set at .31 etc etc.

I believe you are getting a CONFLICT as the Settings are not fixed.

If in doubt please ask.

Having to reset router/modem in the mornings

HI,

I noticed something this morning after trying to get online when I first brought the computer up. As usual I could not get on live mail, ( keeps trying to connect but does not) and I could not get Edge or safari or any other link to connect but FIREFOX was able to connect ( it is the default browser ) and not only that but I was able to pull up the mail program and send and recieve through firefox browser. I checked the other browsers and live mail program but they still did not work. Whats that all about !? Does it tell us something  about the problem ?

The error message I have this morning is in live mail 12." unable to send and recieve for the Comcast ( username) account. Possible causes for this problem include server problems, network problems or a long period of inactivity."

Server: mail.comcast.net

Win LiveMail

POP3

Port 995

Secure SSL -yes

I called Comcast again this morning and they wanted me to hard wire the computer to bypass the router to see if the problem still existed but as previously talked about I am unable to connect though the ethernet. ( this is a new computer) They said they do not support my modem even though they will support it if I rent it from them. I asked if they update the modems with the latest firmware in batch updates and she said only the ones they rent out. I am unable to update it. It is working fine despite Comcast, all of my other devices work as they should. Rouer has the latest firmware ( BelkinAC750 DB )

Having to reset router/modem in the mornings

I tried to bypass the router and found that my ethernet is not working. Error stated "unidentified network" and" Ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration" Another issue with this new computer. Shouldn't I have a driver for that ?.

Having to reset router/modem in the mornings

I tried to bypass the router and hook up the Ethernet connection but I got a "Unidentified Network" and Ethernet does not have a valid IP configuration.

Hopefully this is a better image.

Having to reset router/modem in the mornings

Hi

Your router should have a label with things like its Gateway IP address.  So you can ping it, and ComCast etc.

Getmac All.png

Ping 127.0.0.1 usually just tells you that the network adapter is working.   8.8.8.8 is google.

ping 127.0.0.1

ping 8.8.8.8

Your gateway can also be found, possibly printers or whatever is on the network.

C:\WINDOWS\system32>ping comcast.com

Pinging comcast.com [69.252.80.75] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 69.252.80.75: bytes=32 time=107ms TTL=50
Reply from 69.252.80.75: bytes=32 time=105ms TTL=50
Reply from 69.252.80.75: bytes=32 time=106ms TTL=50
Reply from 69.252.80.75: bytes=32 time=105ms TTL=50

Ping statistics for 69.252.80.75:
    Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
    Minimum = 105ms, Maximum = 107ms, Average = 105ms

Not particularly fast, but then there is a pond between us.

You can set/reserve IP addresses....

IP Resevation.png

SO IF you get 3 MAC addresses from getmac you may be able to fix your ethernet with a suitable IP, also phones, WiFi and printer should you want to.

Personally I use a pen and paper to list my devices, then allocate IP addresses and then commit to Router to avoid clashes.  AND set a lease time as long as possible.

If in doubt please ask.
