HP ENVY Notebook - 15t-ae100 CTO
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

My HP Envy Laptop is M9U50AV, and I would like to find a compatible replacement for my wireless network card to upgrade from 2.5G to 5G.

I have investigated a few Intel models: Intel based WiFi 6 AX200 and 9260AC or 9560AC.

Does anyone have an experienced solution to this question?

Thank you,

Felicia Elizabet

Hi:

I believe that the 15-ac### model series, and the 15-ae### models series have a BIOS whitelist which prevents the installation of any wifi card not listed in the 15t-ae100 CTO model series from working,

Also, your notebook only has one antenna cable, since it has a single band wifi adapter.

The cards you reference all require two antenna cables.

The Intel 9560 definitely won't work because it is a CRF (companion RF) card, and only works on select notebooks with the Intel 8th gen core processors.

If you want to take a complete gamble on a dual band AC card, then I recommend this one.  It works with a single antenna cable.

Please note that if you can't return it, you may be tossing $16.50 plus tax and shipping out the window...

You can buy one new from the HP parts store...$16.50

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure.
