Product: HP OfficeJet 4658 All-in-One Printer

The HP4658 has operated perfectly well for years, but within the last few months it continuously goes off line. I use all the HP diagnostic facilities including HP smart, but I'm just unable to restore the device. The diagnostics tell you that it cannot communicate with the device but you can print a test page. Eventually I manage to get it to print, sometimes after 30 - 60 mins playing about but the sequence of events I went through don't necessarily work the next time I have this problem. Is it the printer or my PC at fault. Its very frustrating. The printer is serviceable, the PC operating on Windows 11 appears to be okay, so what do I need to do to have a reliable print service??
