Envy 15t K200
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I would like to get an upgraded WiFi card for my HP Envy 15t K200 laptop running Windows 10 pro. It has basically become a media server. My router is  a LINKSYS EA9500 MAX-STREAM™ AC5400 MU-MIMO GIGABIT WI-FI ROUTER (a monster Next Gen AC router).  What is the best card I can put in my laptop?

Do I have to worry about BIOS compatibility?

Thank you,

DCT007

Hello, @DCT007 – Hope you are well 🙂

Thank you for becoming an HP Forum member. It is a fantastic location to get help from the community, get suggestions and find what has worked for others!

I understand that you are trying to update the wireless card on your PC. I checked the PC upgrade & maintenance guide and these are the compatible cards:

  • Realtek RTL8188EE 802.11 b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi Adapter
  • Qualcomm Atheros AR9485 802.11 b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi Adapter
  • QCA 9565 802.11bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 Combo Adapter
  • Broadcom BCM43142 802.11bgn 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter
  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter

I’d suggest you go for Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.0 Combo Adapter as this support “AC” frequency when compared to “B/G/N” on other cards.

I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!

Cheers 🙂
