Hp laptop can't connect to any wifi network

Sorry if I used the wrong post flair, I'm not very techy and I'm struggling. Basically my HP laptop will not connect to any wifi networks. I have tried running the wifi troubleshooter and that didn't help. I have checked my network adapters drivers and it says they are all up to date. My laptop is currently in windows 10 because I cannot update it without wifi. It seems like I can't do any fix without wifi. I tried calling HP support and they can't help me unless I pay $50 for warranty. Is there something I'm missing or do I really need to drop money on this?
