Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

I a m unable to scan from my printer to my computer (Mac pro 2018 model).  I have a ENVY 7640 all in one printer.

please advice and assist

For the moment, please use Image Capture for Scanning.

 

Details

 

Scanning is not yet fully supported in Catalina.

 

Read the information in the support document: 

HP Printers - HP Easy Scan Is Not Currently Supported in macOS Catalina.

 

Essentially:

Image Capture (also) supports scanning documents - details are included in Step #5

 

HP is aware of the issue and will release a fix when it is available.
