Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I cannot access the Internet ,neither via ethernet nor wireless. It seemed to happen after an update to Windows 10.

Other computer and android phone can access the wireless. When I click on the wireless icon , I can see the various networks, including my own. However, it says, "No Internet, secured." I ran a diagnostic, saying that the wireless network adapter and the wired network adapter is not working. I tried to update the drivers, but to no avail.

I did remove that update. I have HP Pavilion dv7, product no.QJ799AV#ABA. It seems that there are no drivers for Windows 10.

Hi @10007 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're facing network connectivity issues on your HP Pavilion dv7 after a Windows 10 update. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Check Network Troubleshooter:

  • Right-click on the network icon in the taskbar.
  • Select "Troubleshoot problems."
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to identify and potentially fix the issue.

Restart Your Computer:

  • Sometimes a simple restart can resolve connectivity issues. Restart your computer and see if the problem persists.

Check Airplane Mode:

  • Ensure that your laptop is not in Airplane mode. This mode disables all wireless communications.

Update Network Drivers:

  • Go to the Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting "Device Manager."
  • Locate the network adapters section and right-click on your wireless and wired network adapters.
  • Select "Update driver" and choose to search automatically for updated driver software.

Manually Download and Install Drivers:

  • Visit the HP support website (https://support.hp.com/) and enter your laptop's model number or let the site automatically detect it.
  • Look for updated network drivers compatible with Windows 10 and download them.
  • Install the downloaded drivers.

Rollback Windows Update:

  • Since you mentioned the issue started after a Windows update, you can try rolling back to a previous version.
  • Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Windows Update" > "View update history."
  • Select "Uninstall updates" and locate the problematic update. Right-click on it and select "Uninstall."

Check Network Settings:

  • Go to "Settings" > "Network & Internet" > "Status."
  • Click on "Network troubleshooter" to identify and potentially fix network problems.

Reset TCP/IP Stack:

  • Open Command Prompt as an administrator (right-click on Start and select "Command Prompt (Admin)").
  • Type the following commands and press Enter after each:

Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings:

  • Your firewall or antivirus software might be blocking the internet connection. Temporarily disable them to check if they are causing the issue.

netsh winsock reset
netsh int ip reset
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew

System Restore:

  • If all else fails, you can try performing a system restore to revert your system to a state before the problematic update.
  • Type "Create a restore point" in the Windows search bar and open the corresponding result.
  • Click on the "System Restore" button and follow the on-screen instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
