I can't get online no matter what I do

My laptop is picking up the Wi-Fi signal and connecting to the network, but still, whenever I open the browser I get nowhere. I just get error messages no matter what I try.

• "The Wi-Fi you are using may require you to visit its login page."
• "you might need to sign up with the network's ISP to get access to the internet."
• "Windows can't communicate with the device or resource (primary DNS server)."
• "Your connection to this site is not secure"
• Insecure site

Other devices do fine connecting to the same network, and display none of the same error or warning messages, so I know it's something about this particular device that's causing the problem. I don't think it's a hardware issue, because I even tried swapping its Wi-Fi card for another one I know works. And it isn't a virus, because I just installed the OS.

I've tried Chrome, Opera and IE8. Nothing worked.

How do I know what DNS details I'm using?

I don't know what pinging 13.107.4.52 means.

Im having issues with my Laptop that are similar to yours except i can only connect if im 6 feet from the router and that means any WI-FI router at other locations. once i connect im good to go and can take it 20ft away with no issues but if i shut down the laptop and then turn it on again then i have to go stand next to the Wi-Fi router to get it to connect again. I believe its the Realtech  adapter RTL8822ce that is the issue but im not a expert on computers so who knows.

When I got to the part where it says "In most cases the default IP address is 192.168.1.1" I entered that IP into the browser's address bar to see what would happen, and it cleared things right up. Suddenly I could access the internet. I don't know why this worked, or whether I should consider my troubleshooting to now be over.

What may be missing/mis-configured are the IP address DHCP gateway and/orDNS.

192.168.1.1 (or 192.168.0.1) are the normal values for most Domestic Modem/Routers.

You FIX/Reserve an IP address for printers normally, and anything on a network so it is at a known location.
