HP Notebook - 14-am052nr (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

A few days ago I was on my laptop and it kept popping up with a message saying that my storage was almost full on my laptop. There was somewhere on the pop-up to click where it said to manage your storage and so I clicked on it and then I just started deleting a bunch of stuff that I didn't recognize and now I can't get on the internet no matter what I do. I even reset my computer like factory reset it and I still can't get on the internet. So I'm not sure what I deleted but I was hoping that somebody could help me figure it out. Thank you.

Hi @User_06042024,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you may have accidentally deleted some essential system files or drivers related to your internet connectivity while trying to free up space on your HP Notebook.

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Network Adapter Settings:

  • Go to Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center.
  • Click on "Change adapter settings" on the left side.
  • Right-click on your network adapter and make sure it's enabled. If it's disabled, right-click and select "Enable".

Check Device Manager:

  • Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager.
  • Look for any devices under Network adapters. If you see a yellow exclamation mark next to any of them, it indicates a problem.
  • Right-click on the affected device, select "Properties", and then go to the "Driver" tab. Try to update the driver software.

Check Wi-Fi or Ethernet Connection:

  • If you're using Wi-Fi, make sure the Wi-Fi switch on your laptop is turned on.
  • If you're using an Ethernet cable, make sure the cable is securely connected to your laptop and the router or modem.

Run Network Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Click on "Internet Connections" and run the troubleshooter to diagnose and potentially fix any network-related issues.

Restore System:

  • If you have a restore point created before you delete the files, you can try restoring your system to that point.
  • Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore and follow the prompts to restore your system to an earlier point in time.

Reinstall Network Drivers:

  • If none of the above steps work, you may need to reinstall the network drivers.
  • You can download the drivers from the HP website using another computer or your phone, transfer them to your HP Notebook, and then install them.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
