I have a HP OffficeJet All-in-One 8020 series printer which for security reasons I need to run without an Internet connection. The printer is connected to a computer with a USB cable (Wi-Fi direct and IP v6 have been turned off on the printer control panel). It works, but for every print job it displays "Connection Problem -- Without an internet connection you might lose the ability to print very soon. Reconnect the printer to the Internet with either a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection to continue printing," which must be acknowledged by tapping the touch-screen for printing to proceed. (The printer was initially set up and used with a Wi-Fi Internet connection for the HP ink supply program but that has been cancelled.) Is it possible to eliminate this touch-screen verification, and if so, what settings need changing?

Hi @BobW25,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The message you're seeing on the HP Officejet All-in-One 8020 series printer is likely a built-in feature intended to remind users to connect to the internet for various services such as ink supply program updates, firmware updates, and other functionalities. However, since you want to use the printer without an internet connection, you may be able to adjust some settings to prevent this message from appearing.
Here are a few suggestions you can try.
Printer Settings Menu:
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to the settings or setup menu.
- Look for an option related to notifications, internet connectivity, or warnings.
- Disable any notifications or warnings that prompt you to reconnect to the internet.
Firmware Update:
- Ensure that the printer's firmware is up to date. Sometimes, manufacturers release firmware updates that address or modify certain functionalities.
- You can check for firmware updates on the HP official website. If there's an update available, follow the instructions to install it.
HP Smart App:
- If you previously used the HP Smart app for setting up the printer, check the app settings for any options related to internet notifications.
- Disable any features that prompt you to connect to the internet.
Remember that while disabling certain notifications may resolve the current issue, it's essential to stay informed about any critical updates or messages related to the printer's performance.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
