Thanks BH, but unfortunately, after restart (even with updates applied during restart) this does not seem to have solved the issue.

When looking at Advanced Network Settings/Hardware and connection properties, I can see that:

Wi-Fi Realtek RTL8822BE 802.11ac PCIe Adaptor has a physical address (MAC) of 80:2b:f9:67:a3 and Status is "Operational" with maximum transmission unit of 1500, but connectivity (IPv4/IPv6) is "Disconnected".

When I click on the network/volume area of the task bar (bottom right of window), there are no choices for WiFi..... only Bluetooth and Airplane mode, brightness and volume.  No option to select WiFi.

Would appreciate any other thoughts.

Also noted that after running the exe that was downloaded from the link, that there was an error message from the HP Network Check Diagnostics.... Connection Status HP Network Check is unable to fix your network issues at this time.....IP not bound (109) There may be a problem with the driver for the adaptor.  Windows did not automatically bind the IP protocol stack to the network adapter.

I restarted the laptop after receiving the error code, and during restart it "applied updates".

I should also advise that since this issue has arisen with the WiFi adapter, Windows takes quite a bit of time to open.  From the login screen, once we input the PIN number, the screen goes black for a couple to three minutes before the desktop opens.

Not sure if these points are salient, but thought it might help to have additional context.
