HP Pavillion DV7-6168nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello everyone. I have an HP Pavillion DV7-6168nr laptop and want to upgrade the current WiFi internal card P/N: 63703-001 (RAlink RT5390 802.11 b/g/n). I want to upgrade it to have bluetooth along with the capability to handle faster speeds than the current one.

I dont know if my laptop model has a whitelist in the bios. I appreciate any directionon what the highest WiFi model compatible card that can be installed in my laptop.

My laptop still works like a charm and really the network card just needs upgrading.. if possible.

My laptop Config. is

CPU = AMD A6-3400M APU with Radeon(TM) HD Graphics 1.4 GHz

OS = WIn 10 Pro 64 bit

Ram = 8gb (I upgraded from 4bg)

Hard Disck = 640 GB 5400RPM

Your machine was built long way before mid 2014, the chance to upgrade wireless card is very slim to none due to BIOS whitelist.

It is safe to use the following part numbers

  • Atheros 9485GN 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and 3012 Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter part # 655795-001
  • Atheros AR9285 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi Adapter part # 605560-005
  • Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi Adapter part # 593836-001
  • Broadcom 4313 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and 2070 Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Combo adapter (BT3.0HS ready) part # 600370-001
  • Broadcom 4313GN 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and 20702 Bluetooth 4.0 Combo Adapter part # 657325-001
  • Ralink RT3090BC4 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR Combo adapter (BT3.0HS ready) part # 630705-001
  • Ralink 5390GN 802.11b/g/n 1×1 WiFi Adapter part # 630703-001

I've got one of the Broadcom cards which is failing in my dv7.  Would any of these cards you've listed be preferred over any of the others?

Thanks.
