I have a problem with a HP Compaq Presario R3000
My dad has just bought a laptop for car diagnosis.. it has a serial port and, as he said, is good for him.
I reinstalled windows xp and I was looking for wireless.. drivers... and then I found out that it doesn't have a Wireless button, or blue led.
Now I bought an Atheros wireless card and I don't really know if is it possible to add it on this old(2003) laptop.I opened a little cover, but below was a ram memory of 256 mb ddr. That surprised me because I have 512 ram on my computer properties.
I really want to know if I can add that card, or to reject the purchase.
*sorry for my english, hope you understood what I've said.
Thank you very much in advise.

Your English is just fine.
I do not think you can add a wireless card when there is no button or indicator. Plus you can only install one of the wireless cards listed in chapter 3 (page 3-12) of the service manual at the link below.
They must also have those HP part numbers or they will not work.
Chapter 5 (page 5-35) of the service manual provides the instructions on where the wireless card access is located (under the keyboard).
If there are no built in antenna wires to connect the card to already in place, then it can't be done -- even with the right model card.

But it has an AMD processor and everyone sais that if it has amd processor it is the amd model and it has wireless.
Now, if it has no button, I don't know what to do.
I know that for this model wireless is available, so somehow I can add one.
Is that antena removable? or..
