I have a G72-102SA, it's a fairly old machine now but I have upgraded the processor to a Core i7-M620, we now have 8gB of RAM and a 480gB SSD, its lightning fast in most situations and I love it!
The one thing left that i want to do is upgrade the wireless adaptor to a dual band (2.4 & 5GHz) unit, the current one is a Qualcomm Atheros AR9285, the one I want to replace it with is a Qualcomm Atheros AR5B22, visually it's identical but I have concerns about compatibility due to reading something about "Whitelisting".
Could anybody help me out with this one please, the 2.4GHz channels around us are so congested I get a download speed of around 5Mb/s whereas on the 5GHz channels I'm hitting 70Mb/s!
Thanks in advance, Andy.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.
After reading your post, I did go through the Product specifications of your product and found that you have 802.11b/g/n (1x1) and Bluetooth® 4.0 combo drive installed on the PC. If your adapter supports 802.11a, it will definitely support 5GHz. The same goes for 802.11ac http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02641840
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
