I upgraded to windows 10 home version 21H2 on March 24th presumably. Ever since then, my internet WiFi connection Is sporadic. It Seems it may not just be because of the service since this newer system I have to reset the adapter lately. It seems I have the latest driver for the WiFi adapter. Hp assistant did not provide a new driver. Please advise.

Well, I have done these things. The internet service here sometimes has problems, and sometimes it is the cable modem and service. Yet I have found that lately there is something with a similar name as “tap adapter” in windows. Hp assistant reset it one day and it was fine. I use a vpn and did researched that it might be related. It is strange that possibly only after a windows update that this adapter driver might have started causing problems. I noticed that when hp assistant isn’t resetting this lately, doing a network reset, or turning off the vpn sometimes helps (unless of course the network is down). Do you have any suggestions? Before, I used the same vpn, and the tap adapter did not seem to show problems. I wasn’t even aware it was there.

@JoshuaCaleb

The TAP-Windows Adapter is a network driver, used by VPN services to connect to servers. If the issue is with this adapter, you will have to contact Microsoft for assistance.

Check if the printer works fine when the computer is not connected to a VPN.

Let me know how it goes.

I’ve not used this computer with a printer as far as I know. How should I contact Microsoft about this issue? Every other device connected to this vpn seems to usually work fine and not needed to be reset. I have had two hp devices that seemed to need to be reset every time they use the vpn. I would like to use the vpn for security purposes.

Let us run a test on the hardware component of the PC

  1. Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
  2. Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second. When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
  3. Perform Component Test > Network/wireless test. Share the result on your next post.

If the test pass, this could be an issue with the operating system installed. It could be a bug.

To contact Microsoft, go to their website and use the contact option.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

That means the wireless adapter in the computer is working fine. Yes, kindly contact Microsoft as this could be an issue with the OS.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.
