Printer prints fine from my iMac, but my wife's iMac will not print. She is connected to same network and in Mac Settings, the printer is recognized and has a blue light. When trying to print, the HP utility comes on and says that the printer can't be contacted and that its either disconnected or offline.

on the printer - On the MAC Go to Spotlight > search for Network utility > select Ping tab > enter the IP address of the printer in the box
- Check the second box that says Send only > 10 pings
- Click on ping > Check the results at the end if any packets are lost

Step 2: Update MAC software and install the printer using AirPrint driver

Checking wireless icon on the printer showed that the printer had changed the ip address from 10.0.0.18 to 10.0.0.16??
I deleted old printer ip and replaced with new. Now it works. Don't know why address changed.

- The IP address to all the network devices is assigned by your router, controlled by your ISP.
- To make the IP address static on your printer, follow these steps:
- Obtain the IP address of the printer.
- Type the IP address on your web browser to obtain the printer EWS page on your computer.
- Go to "Network" tab - General - Select "Network protocols" - Select "Enable IPv4 only" (or similar) - Apply the settings.
- Go to the “Network” tab – Click on “Wireless (802.11) – Then click on “Network address (IPv4)
- Click on the radio button which says “Manual IP” and then click “Suggest a manual IP address” to give a manual IP address to your printer.
- Click on radio button which says “Manual DNS Server” and under manual preferred type 8.8.8.8 and under manual alternate type 8.8.4.4 (This is Google DNS server address)
Keep me posted for further assistance.

Ideally, the username and password are set by the user. If you have forgotten or if the credentials are not working, we will have to perform a factory reset on the printer.
Alternatively, let us try to assign a manual IP on the printer control panel:
1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, touch ( Setup ), and then touch Network Setup.
2. Touch Ethernet Settings or Wireless Settings.
3. Touch Advanced Settings.
4. Touch IP Settings. A message appears warning that changing the IP address removes the printer from the network. Touch OK to continue.
5. To change the settings manually, touch Manual (Static), and then enter the appropriate information for the following settings:
- IP Address - (Current IP address of the printer)
- Subnet Mask
- Default Gateway
- DNS Address - 008.008.008.008
The above values can be found on your MAC.
Click on the wireless icon on MAC > Open Network preferences > Advanced at the right bottom corner > Select TCP/IP tab
Copy the values for Subnet mask and router/default gateway.
6. Enter your changes, and then touch Done.
7. Touch OK.
If the above steps do not help, I will send you a private message to perform a factory reset on the printer.
- The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
- I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
- In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Forums profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage
