I have a one year old HP Laptop (Envy x360) and the camera will not work in any application! The laptop was not dropped, struck, or had anything heavy set on it.
I have tried all of the trouble shooting methods I could find and now am at a dead end. Before I purchase a camera (I need this laptop for work), does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this problem? Thank you!

Hi @onikloy1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy x360's camera isn't working, here are some steps you can try.
- Update Drivers: Go to Device Manager, find your camera under "Imaging devices," right-click it, and select "Update driver." You can also visit the HP website to download the latest drivers.
- Check Privacy Settings: Ensure that camera access is enabled. Go to Settings > Privacy > Camera, and make sure "Allow apps to access your camera" is turned on.
- Run the HP Support Assistant: This tool can help diagnose and fix hardware issues, including camera problems. It might identify if there’s a hardware malfunction.
- Check for Windows Updates: Sometimes, updates can resolve driver issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
- Uninstall and Reinstall the Camera Driver: In Device Manager, right-click the camera and select "Uninstall device." Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
- Check for Conflicting Software: Sometimes, third-party software can interfere with the camera. Try disabling or uninstalling any recently added software that may use the camera.
- Perform a System Restore: If the camera was working previously, you might consider restoring your system to a point when it was functioning correctly.
If none of these steps work, it might be a hardware issue, and an external camera could be a practical temporary solution.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
