Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

gg.jpgAfter reformatting my laptop, it cannot connect to the internet anymore. I tried checking the network adapters and installing diffrent wi-fi adapters but none of them worked. Please help.

Hi @prsly 

 

It helps greatly if you identify your notebook with its complete HP Product name or product number.

You can find the HP Product name or product number on the bottom of the notebook in tiny print.

 

Without that information it is almost impossible to give you driver and notebook specific help.

The first listed item in the other devices in your screenshot is a wireless adapter, this means your adapter is not installed properly. You need to find the driver for the BCM43142. You should be able to get it from support.hp.com

I can't do what it says on this post

because I really cannot connect my pc to the internet therefore I cannot update any driver. Please help me find the appropriate driver.

The following link goes to the Broadcom wifi adapter driver software that should help resolve your issue

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71994.exe

You can put that driver software in  a USB memory stick to install it in your notebook's OS.

 

Why do you have Windows 8.1 selected as the operating system? Did you select it in error?

 

According to the documentation that HP provides for specifications, Windows 10 Home was delivered with the ultrabook.
