I bought a laptop in the fall and have used it for less than 48 hours since purchase. It keeps losing the ability to connect to wifi. As in the option to find networks and connect routinely disappears and I am beyond frustrated at this point   I’ve turned off automatic updates and for the life of me I can’t figure out why this keeps happening.

as it has no internet I can’t download any diagnostic tools …..

 It’s windows 11 V 24H2 OS build 26100.4061

please help!!

@Meaghan1234456, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding WiFi Connection Issues on HP Laptops!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It can be quite frustrating to face connectivity issues with your laptop. Here are some steps that might help resolve the problem:

Check WiFi Settings

  1. Ensure WiFi is Enabled: Use the WiFi toggle in your system settings or function keys to make sure WiFi is turned on.
  2. Check Airplane Mode: Make sure Airplane Mode is turned off.

Update Network Drivers

  1. Download Drivers on Another Device: Use another device with an internet connection to download the latest network drivers from the HP support website.
  2. Transfer Drivers to Laptop: Use a USB flash drive to transfer the downloaded drivers to your laptop.
  3. Install Drivers:
    • Open Device Manager (Windows + X > Device Manager).
    • Locate the network adapter, right-click, and select Update driver.
    • Choose Browse my computer for driver software and navigate to the location where you saved the drivers.

Check Device Manager for Errors

  1. Open Device Manager (Windows + X > Device Manager).
  2. Check for any warnings or errors in the network adapters section.
  3. If there are issues, try right-clicking the adapter and selecting Uninstall device. Restart your computer, and Windows should reinstall the driver.

Network Troubleshooter

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  3. Run the Network Adapter troubleshooter.

Reset Network Settings

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Network & Internet > Advanced network settings.
  3. Select Network reset and follow the instructions.

BIOS Update

  1. Check if a BIOS update is available for your laptop model on the HP support website.
  2. Download and install the update.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
