HP Notebook - 14-bp059na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey,

My notebook has recently stopped connecting to wifi networks, in fact the wifi option has disappeared all together. After some googling and many  troubleshoots and drivers updated, I looks like I need to replace my wifi card. Would anyone be able to suggest a suitable options for this model notebook (HP Notebook - 14-bp059na).

Thanks!

Hi:

From what I can determine by looking up the product specs and service manual for your notebook, it came with a Realtek RTL8723BE-VB 802.11b/g/n 1x1 Wi-Fi + BT4.0 Combo Adapter.

That model adapter uses one Wifi antenna cable, and the other two wifi adapters listed in the service manual require two antenna cables, which your PC will not have.

Of course you could replace the card with the same model and part number, but you may as well upgrade it to the dual band AC version of the card that also only needs one antenna cable to work.

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.

The only place I have been able to find this model is on eBay.

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_nkw=L17365-005&_sacat=0&_sop=15

The Realtek 8821CE wifi card will have a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz wifi band with an AC router.

Here is the link to the service manual, where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure...

Hi:

I'm very surprised that W10 didn't automatically install the driver for the wifi card.

Here are the links to the latest drivers for it...

Thanks Paul!

The laptop still doesn’t appear to be acknowledging the wifi card. Anything I could be missing?

You're very welcome.

There must be a problem with the motherboard, and not the wifi card then.

The RTL8821CE wifi adapter should be showing up under the Network Adapters device manager category along with the ethernet adapter.

You will probably have to resort to using an external USB wifi adapter.

They make some nano size ones nowadays that hardly stick out of the USB port.
