Below are the basic details of my laptop
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4288U CPU @ 2.60GHz 2.60 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows 10 (Home)
Wifi Driver RTL8723BE 802. 11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter
The challenge i am having
My broadband package is 900mbps with Vodafone and all devices in the household receive up to 800mbps and above but my personal laptop (details above) only gets 40mbps on wifi and 90mbps with the ethernet cable plugged in directly
This is relatively low and i believe it probably has to do with my laptop, so i am looking for technical help on what i can tweak or reset to allow the laptop get the maximum speed also
Thank you

As indicated, your machine ONLY has RTL8723BE 802. 11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter which supports 2.4GHz networks only therefore you can not get higher speed.
Your machine was built on early 2014, due to the whitelist the chance for upgrading to newer wifi card in very slim to none. It only has one antenna, if you wish you can use
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + BT 4.0 combo adapter, for use only on computer models equipped with Intel processors for HP Pavilion 17 and 15 Notebook PC computer models part # 710662-005
