My laptop does not pick up my 5ghz connection with the router

Hi:

 

If your notebook cannot find or connect to any 5.0 GHz wifi networks, then it only has a single band (2.4 GHz) only wifi adapter.

 

Many HP notebooks still come with just the single band wifi adapters.

 

If you let me know what model wifi adapter your notebook has, I will confirm that is a 2.4 GHz wifi adapter only, and not a driver issue.
