HI
I have a Toshiba laptop with windows Vista and have just bought an HP Photosmart B110 wireless scanner printer. Cannot set up the wireless connection, keep going round in circles, getting an error saying MAC address filtering is enabled and preventing the connection. I cannot find out how to get around it . Any help?????
thanks

Hi:
Look at your printer documentation. There should be a setting in your wireless menu that will give you the wireless printer's MAC address. It will be a 12 character string separated by colons. For example 0B:14:0E:23:FB:2C.
Then once you have those 12 alpha-numeric characters, you log into your router's wireless configuration menu. There will be a menu tab enabled Wireless MAC Filtering. Go into that menu and add those 12 characters into the list of MAC addresses already in there and save it. Exit your router setup menu, and you should be good to go.

What model router do you have? I'll see if I can find the user guide for it. The only thing is if you have a password on it you will have to know what it is to get in. A router has a default password. If you didn't change it, you can use the password in the instruction manual.

Hello, Happy Thanksgiving to all.
I have an Officejet 8500 Pro Wireless A909g AIO, my second one. It has been working fine on my wireless home network since July 2010.
Just two days ago it would not print, documents would que & that's it. They remain in que until deleted manually.
Ran printer's diagnostic test - radio not working was the error returned.
Checked posts then...
Powered down, unplugged overnight, now radio appears to be on as per the printer.
Still does not print - failed filtering this test. Note on test report says to go into my wireless router and temporarily disable mac filtering then install the printer.(Which is already installed)
PROBLEM IS MY ROUTER SHOWS THAT MAC FILTERING IS ALREADY DISABLED.
The router is supplied by Verizon for FiOS, I did get in it, that's not an issue. It shows MAC filtering disabled but I can't figure out how to change that if I need to.
I also removed the printer from my computer in the hopes reinstalling it would correct any issues. Can not reinstall it because the laptop does not "see" the printer even though the printer says the radio is working.
I did use the wireless network wizard, did put my correct network name & key in - but it does not connect to the network.
I am at a loss now, anyone have an idea except to not purchase another HP product?
Thank you.

I'm having the same MAC enabling problem with my wireless HP Photosmart C309a printer. I have a Gateway 2-Wire router from AT&T but do not know how to get into the menu to enter the MAC address for this printer. Can you help? Thanks in advance.

Hope this helps...
Problem solved after I downloaded and installed the latest version of the all in one software from HP, however I do not know if that was the solution.
Before I took the steps below I had powered down the printer via the on/off button, left it off for a few hours - no progress, then I turned it off again, unplugged it from the power source, left it overnight - still no progress.
The steps I took were to:
1. Install a 4 port switch/router that I wasn't using into the Cat 5 jack the PC had been directly plugged in to then run Cat 5 to the printer and the PC off of that router. (turned printer off when disconnecting & connecting wires) For unknown reasons this failed - I was able to print from the PC but lost internet access????
2. Removed the printer from my PC & re-installed using the downloaded software - still no internet access.
3. Removed the router/switch, plugged PC back into wired network (turned printer off when disconnecting & connecting wires).
4. Turned printer back on to try something different - but all of a sudden it now printed - wirelessly. I was dumbfounded as I still do not know the actual cause or solution.
Best of luck & Happy Thanksgiving.

Sorry, forgot to mention that you need to do an internet search for the spicific router to find out the "address" to get into the router. Password is another story - should be in the original router documentation.

Many thanks for the advice. I finally figured out my problem with the MAC address. Found that my AT&T Gateway 2-Wire router was MAC disabled all of this time anyway. However, turns out that the printer was too far away from the router to wirelessly connect. The error message from the printer said it was a MAC address problem when all along it was a distance problem. Put the printer next to the desk top computer, hard wired it in, and it connected with no problems. Then went thru the wireless activation and it connected wirelessly with no problem. I can now printer from the desktop (obviously since it's hardwired) but more importantly from my remote laptop too.
Had to go through the AT&T help line to find the IP address of the router in order to see if it was MAC enabled. Only then did I see it was disabled and could ignore the printer error message, leading me to look for other causes.
Best wishes and happy Thanksgiving to you too.

I have a Dell computer with an HP 8600 Officejet Pro. Connection has been totally lost on the printer. Worked fine and now it's not. My troubleshooting has said "MAC address filtering is enabled and I must add that address" Ok. Got the address...now I need to know how to add this? I can't log into my router to fix the problem. I'm not sure how?
