I've tried evertything, the wireless device doesn't even show up in the device manager. I even removed the Intel Centrino wireless n-1000 and re-seated it. It still didn't fix it.

It seems that the device just isn't found and nothing I do will discover it. Could the n-1000 actually be bad? I have no way to test it and google has hundreds of recommendations, some like yours, others using the intel tool, and more. I've tried them all and just can't get wirless to work or the device to be listed.

Without being listed, the drivers are irrelevent....

Thanks!

Hi:

It is very possible the wifi card is dead.

If you are running W7,  install the HP connection manager software, restart the PC and, see if you can turn on the wifi using the HP connection manager software controls.

https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp54501-55000/sp54945.exe

If you are running W8, 8.1 or W10, see if you can turn on the wifi adapter by making a bootable Ubuntu installer.

The HP connection manager software will not work on those 3 operating systems.

You don't need to install Ubuntu on the hard drive, just run it from the installer to turn on the wifi (try ubuntu without installing).

If either method fails to turn on the wifi card, you can assume one of two things...

Most likely, the wifi card had died and needs to be replaced.

Less likely, the slot the wifi card goes into is dead.

Have the same problem and tried so many support softwares but none of them worked. If Device Manager can't see it, neither can the support softwares, like HP Connection, Intel, Slim, etc.....Even device update software must see the hardware in order to know what drivers are available.

Twice over three weeks, the device did come back for a brief period and actually functioned, but it wasn't long lived. Shortly, it vanished, not to have appeared again since.

I find it hard to believe that at this date, we can produce a robot that can by itself kill 100 men in a blink, but consumer products like laptops costing over $1000 can't find a failed $16 circuit board.

I've hard wired mine and won't bother with it. Time vs. $16 just isn't worth it.
