HP 15-r015dx Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR)

I've run the Hp Support Center diagnostics and other clean-up tools.  No issues identified.  Our Internet provider's technician was here today and confirmed that we have no issues with the modem.  Can't figure out why the speed test would be so much different between my Hp notebook and my wife's iPad.  Both tests run next to the modem. I'm getting 23 download/11 upload.  She's getting 200/42.  Can someone point me in the right direction?  Thanks.

The specs of your HP machine is

It has  1x1 802.11b/g/n WLAN  adapter & 10/100BASE-T Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector)  BOTH are slow. Your machine was built around 2014, due to the whitelist you won't be able to replace its wifi adapter to a newer one. Please use somthing like the following one you will get faster speed

Thank you.  I suspected the issue was with the machine itself, but was hoping there would be an easy upgrade possibility.... without having to buy a new laptop.  This one does what I need it to, but is not taking advantage of the Internet speed I'm paying for.  Is your suggested remedy something I can install without replacing my laptop?

Your help is very much appreciated!
