Pavilion G Series
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

My Wi-Fi option has disappear ever since I did a Microsoft update Windows 10. I'm only able to get on line via a network cable to my router. I did all the possible self troubleshoot available on previous forums but don't work. The driver for the Wi-Fi is not found at all. I have an HP Pavilion G series. Can you help me?

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, I have a few troubleshooting steps we could try to fix the issue:

  • Step 1: Make sure the wireless key or button is enabled
  • Step 2: Update the wireless driver through Device Manager
  • Step 3: Use automatic troubleshooting
  • Step 4: Check and reset the hardware
  • Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04649175 to complete the troubleshooting steps.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

My wireless option still not working on my HP Pavilion G series after it updated to Windows 10. The wireless button has the orange light on but I'm not able to turn it off or on to reset. I have restarted the laptop several times. It has all the current Windows updates but doesn't seem to find the driver issue for the wireless connection. When I check on Device Manager, the Wi-Fi driver is not listed so I can't remove and reinstall either. The connectivity keeps on looking only for the Ethernet cable which I never had to use before.

Let's try this:

Uninstall a Network Adapter Driver in Windows 10:

  1. Click the Windows icon in the bottom left corner of the screen, and type Device Manager into the Search bar.
  2. The Device Manager should appear. ...
  3. Right-click the network adapter, and click Uninstall.
  4. The program will confirm the uninstall.

Most notebook computers have a button or keyboard key to turn the wireless signal on and off. Check the button or key status to confirm if the wireless signal is on.

  • Locate the wireless key or button. This could be an image of an airplane or a wireless signal.

Button or key

Description

A standalone button with an airplane. This enables or disables “airplane mode” and turns off wireless and Bluetooth on the device.

F12 key with an airplane. This enables or disables “airplane mode” and turns off wireless and Bluetooth on the device.

F12 key with wireless icon and LED. This enables or disables "wireless mode." The LED illuminates in white or blue if active, and amber if wireless is turned off.

A standalone wireless button. This is typically located above or near the keyboard.

  1. Press the button once, wait 10 seconds, and then observe any changes to the wireless connection icon in the notification area and to the LED light on the wireless button or key.
    • If the button or key does not have a light, hover your mouse over the wireless connection icon in the notification area of the taskbar to see the current connection status.
    • If the wireless signal is turned on, try connecting to the Internet again.
    • If the wireless signal is turned off, press the button or key again to turn it back on, and then try connecting to the Internet again.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Hello - Thank you for the instructions. I have tried all of the steps and my wireless option still doesn't show. The Wi-Fi light never turns off. It's a constant amber color. I have hold it for several minutes to turn it off and still doesn't work. The Wireless driver doesn't show as an option on the adapters at all. Is anyone available to help via remote access? Please help.

Thank you for posting back.

I appreciate your efforts to try and resolve the issue. I would suggest performing system factory reset will put the computer back to the original factory settings in this way all corrupted and outdated software will be removed.

While doing the recovery there is an option to backup your personal files. If you have not previously done one now is a good time.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows )You can also contact HP support for assistance. They can remotely access your system to help alleviate difficulties: www.hp.com/contacthp/

The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install the Windows operating system.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
