Hi @Cami71,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Envy 4520 is producing green copies instead of black and is running slowly, there could be several reasons for these issues. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow.
Green Copies:
- Check Ink Levels: Ensure that your black ink cartridge has sufficient ink. You can check the ink levels through the printer software or the control panel on the printer itself.
- Clean Printhead: Run a printhead cleaning process. This can often resolve issues with color discrepancies. You can find this option in the printer settings on your computer.
- Alignment: Perform a print head alignment to ensure that the printhead is properly aligned. This can also be found in the printer settings.
- Replace Cartridge: If the black ink cartridge is low or empty, replace it with a new one.
- Color Settings: Make sure that your printing software and printer settings are configured to use black ink for copying. Some settings may default to color.
Slow Printing/Copying:
- Printer Driver: Ensure that you have the latest printer driver installed on your computer. Visit the HP website to download and install the most up-to-date driver.
- Printer Settings: Check the printer settings for the print quality. Lowering the print quality may increase the printing speed.
- Connection Issues: If your printer is connected wirelessly, check the Wi-Fi connection. If possible, try using a wired connection to see if there's an improvement in speed.
- Print Queue: Check the print queue on your computer to make sure there are no pending or stuck print jobs. Clearing the print queue might help improve speed.
- Memory Issues: Insufficient memory on your computer might slow down printing. Close unnecessary programs and try printing again.
- Firmware Update: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Firmware updates can sometimes improve overall performance.
- Paper Type: Make sure you are using the correct type of paper for your printer. Using the wrong paper type can cause printing issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
