Yea, but according to the spec for your system, you have a single antenna and it likely operates in the 2.4ghz band.

Wireless connectivity
802.11b/g/n (1x1) and Bluetooth® 4.0 combo (Miracast compatible)

Try hardwired ethernet from your 10/100 mbit port direct to the modem. Run your network speed test and see if how close you can get to 100mbit. (100 megabits)

The users manual mentions broadband mobile service but I suspect your problem is WiFi and not the mobile band.

If your EERO model uses the same SSID (name) for both the 2.4ghz and 5ghz bands, then log into the modem and change the name of the 2.4 to something else.  Go to your laptop and see if both SSIDs show up.  Select the one for 5ghz if you see it.

If your laptop cannot detect the 5ghz band you may want to upgrade your WiFI adapter.

You did not mention windows 7, 10 or 11

Try this win 10/11 driver dated 4/15/2024 and Realtek

The maximum throughput for the RTL8723BE Wi-Fi adapter is 72 MBPS.

If you are getting 50 MBPS out of that card, that is a bit better than normal for that model card.

If you want to upgrade the Wi-Fi adapter to a dual band model, you can install this one:

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 Wi-Fi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.

It is the only model dual band Wi-Fi/Bluetooth adapter that will work in notebooks that come with one antenna wire such as yours.

The card has a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS on the 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi band with an AC router and an excellent signal.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the Wi-Fi card removal and replacement procedure:

Thank you for responding. However, the Wi-Fi adapter in my laptop is already the RTL8821CE 802.11. In the  spec  it is listed as having the 72Mbps.  in/out limit.

I was surprised to find this as I have never considered that such a speed limitation woul be an issue.

This is a new computer. If I had known about this before, I would not have bought it

You're very welcome.

According to the product specs for your notebook it comes with a single band Wi-Fi adapter--the RTL8723BE, unless you already replaced it with the RTL8821CE in which case it should be working on both the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi bands.

The RTL8821CE AC Wi-Fi adapter wasn't even offered as an option in your notebook if you look at chapter 3. page 25 of the service manual.

But I know it would work in your notebook.
