@55Ash55,

Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

1. Check the Wi-Fi Password

  • Confirm the new password is correct: Double-check that you're entering the correct password. If you’re unsure, you might want to re-check the password on your router’s settings page or verify it with someone else in your household who knows it.
  • Caps Lock: Ensure that Caps Lock is off while typing the password.

2. Restart Your Laptop

  • Sometimes, simply restarting the laptop can resolve temporary issues with the Wi-Fi connection.

3. Forget and Reconnect to the Network

  • Forget the Network:
    1. Go to Wi-Fi settings.
    2. Click on your Wi-Fi network.
    3. Select Forget.
  • Reconnect: After forgetting the network, try reconnecting by selecting it from the list of available networks and entering the correct password again.

4. Restart Your Router

  • If the router is malfunctioning, it may cause connection issues. Try restarting it by unplugging it for about 10 seconds, then plug it back in and wait for the Wi-Fi to come back online.
  • Check the router's status: Ensure that other devices can connect to the Wi-Fi. If not, there may be an issue with the router itself.

5. Check for Software/Driver Issues

  • Update Wi-Fi Drivers: Outdated drivers can sometimes cause problems. To update them:
    1. Go to Device Manager.
    2. Expand Network adapters.
    3. Right-click on your Wi-Fi adapter and select Update driver.
  • Reinstall Wi-Fi drivers: If updating doesn’t work, try uninstalling the Wi-Fi driver and restarting your laptop. Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.

6. Run Network Troubleshooter

  • Windows has a built-in network troubleshooter that can help identify and fix issues.
    1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
    2. Click on Network Troubleshooter.
  • Follow the prompts to let Windows diagnose and fix the issue automatically.

7. Disable VPN/Firewall/Antivirus Temporarily

  • Sometimes, VPNs, firewalls, or antivirus programs can interfere with your connection. Try temporarily disabling them to see if that resolves the issue.

8. Check Router’s Band and Channel Settings

  • Some routers broadcast on both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz frequencies. Ensure your laptop supports the frequency your router is using (e.g., if it’s only broadcasting on 5 GHz, older laptops may not be able to connect).
  • You can also try changing the channel on the router settings to avoid interference.

9. Check IP Configuration

  • Your laptop might not be able to automatically get an IP address.
    1. Open Command Prompt and type ipconfig /release, then press Enter.
    2. After that, type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.
  • If your laptop still doesn’t connect, try setting a static IP address in the Network Adapter Settings.

10. Check the Router’s Security Settings

  • Ensure the router’s Wi-Fi encryption (WPA2/WPA3) is compatible with your laptop’s Wi-Fi adapter.
  • Try changing the router’s security settings (e.g., from WPA3 to WPA2, or vice versa) to see if that helps.

11. Test on Other Devices

  • Check if other devices (smartphones, tablets, other laptops) can connect to the Wi-Fi with the new password. If they can’t, the issue may lie with the router settings or password configuration.

12. Check for System Updates

  • Ensure that your operating system is fully updated. Sometimes, missing updates can cause issues with networking.

13. Reset Network Settings (Last Resort)

  • Windows:
    1. Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status.
    2. Scroll down and click Network Reset.
  • This will remove all your network adapters and reset network settings, so you’ll need to reconnect to all networks again after the reset.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue
