Hi @Therealistjoey,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your laptop is having trouble connecting to the internet, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try:
1. Check Wi-Fi or Ethernet Connection:
- Wi-Fi: Ensure your Wi-Fi is turned on and you're connected to the correct network. Check if other devices can connect to the same network.
- Ethernet: If you're using an Ethernet cable, ensure it's securely plugged into both your laptop and the router.
2. Restart Your Laptop and Router:
- Restart Laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can fix connectivity issues. Restart your laptop and try reconnecting to the internet.
- Restart Router: Unplug your router from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in. Allow the router to reboot fully and try connecting again.
3. Update Network Drivers:
- Check for Updates: Ensure your network adapter drivers are up to date. Go to your laptop manufacturer's website, find the support section, and download the latest drivers for your network adapter.
4. Disable and Enable Network Adapter:
- Disable Adapter: Go to Device Manager (search for it in the Start menu), find your network adapter under Network adapters, right-click on it, and select Disable. Wait a few seconds, then right-click again and select Enable.
5. Forget and Reconnect to Wi-Fi:
- Forget Network: Go to your Wi-Fi settings, find the network you're trying to connect to, and select Forget network. Then, reconnect by entering the password again.
6. Run Network Troubleshooter:
- Windows: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network troubleshooter. Follow the prompts to diagnose and fix network problems.
7. Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings:
- Sometimes, firewall or antivirus settings can block internet access. Temporarily disable your firewall or antivirus software and check if you can connect to the internet.
8. Reset Network Settings:
- Windows: Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Status > Network reset. This will reset all network adapters to their default settings.
- Mac: Go to System Preferences > Network > Advanced > TCP/IP > Renew DHCP Lease.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
