Hi @giggles60,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To ensure that your printer and computer are on the same network and resolve the issue of your printer showing as offline, follow these steps:

1. Check Printer Connection

For Wi-Fi Printers:

Verify Printer's Network Connection:

  • On your printer, navigate to the settings or network menu (usually found through the control panel or touchscreen).
  • Find the option for Network Settings or Wi-Fi Settings.
  • Confirm that the printer is connected to your Wi-Fi network. You should see the name of your network (SSID) or an IP address assigned to the printer.
  • Many printers have an option to print a network configuration page. This page will show the current network settings and whether the printer is connected to the correct network.
  • Ensure that the Ethernet cable is securely connected between your printer and the router.
  • Check the printer’s display or network settings to confirm its IP address.

2. Check Computer’s Network Connection

Verify Wi-Fi or Ethernet Connection:

  • Ensure your computer is connected to the same network as your printer. For Wi-Fi, check the network icon in the system tray (bottom-right corner of your screen) and confirm the network name matches your printer’s network. For Ethernet, ensure the cable is properly connected and the computer is connected to the same router as the printer.
  • On Windows: Go to Settings > Network & Internet and check if you're connected to the same network as your printer.
  • On macOS: Go to System Preferences > Network and confirm your connection.

3. Restart Devices:

  • Turn off the printer, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.
  • Restart your computer to ensure it reconnects to the network properly.
  • If there are network issues, try restarting your router by unplugging it for about 30 seconds and then plugging it back in.

4. Re-add the Printer

  1. Remove and Re-add Printer:
    • Windows:
      • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.
      • Find your printer in the list, click on it, and select Remove device.
      • Click on Add a printer or scanner and let Windows detect and add your printer again

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
