I have an HP Envy laptop computer purchased in 2014. Recently, the computer would not connect to the 5g wifi network in our home. It has been connected to the 2.4g network. We have a second computer purchased in 2020 and it works fine on the same router and 5g network. The network adapter in the HP Envy is a Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 802.11b|g|n. The adapter does not see the 5g network and will not connect to the 5g network. Does this adapter support a 5g network? If it doesn't can you recommend a network adapter that will?....Mike

Hi:
The Qualcomm Atheros QCA9565 is a single band combination wifi/bluetooth adapter, that only works on the 2.4 GHz wifi band.
Open up your notebook and confirm that it has two wifi antenna cables connected to the Atheros card.
If your notebook has an Intel core processor, and two wifi antenna cables connected to the wifi card, then you can upgrade to this model...
Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + BT 4.0 HP Part # 710661-001
You should be able to find this card on eBay pretty cheaply. Maybe on Amazon too.
Search by the HP part number, not the model of the wifi card.
Below is the link to the service manual.
