Hi all! I have an HP dv6-6173cl that is running Linux Mint 20.3 Mate Edition. I seem to be having an issue with the wifi adapter. It's the original single band N-1000, Model #112BNHMW. It doesn't recognize available networks and won't connect to mine. I put a USB dongle in and it seems to be just fine. However, I'd like to upgrade the card if possible. Does anyone know what can be installed that would reflect an upgrade?

Hi:
Your PC has a BIOS whitelist which prevents any other Wi-Fi card but the one currently installed in your PC from working.
You would have to replace the existing card with the same one with the same HP part number appearing on the 'Replace with HP spare' label.
And if the card is not defective, another one would do the same thing.
I recommend you continue using a USB Wi-Fi adapter if that is working for you.
