Hi, I'd like to upgrade my network card of my laptop. I'd like to use 5Ghz connection, but I don't like to use an external adapter, I feel is a little annoying. I have a Realtek RTL8723de, I don't know if my laptop is compatible with RTL8821 model. Thanks for your help

Your machine has single antenna for wifi adapter. You can use the following cards (your machine has the last one now)

  • Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 9461 802.11 AC 1×1 WiFi + BT5 Combo Adapter (non-vPro) (MU-MIMO supported) part #
    L25889-005
  • Intel Dual band wireless-AC 3168 802.11AC 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adaptor (non-vPro) part # 863934-855
  • Realtek RTL8822BE 802.11 ac 2x2 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) part # 924813-855
  • Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) part # L17365-005
  • Realtek RTL8723DE 802.11 bgn 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter part # L21480-005

Card in purple requires 2 antennas

Hi, @DanMulder_182

The only dual band Wi-Fi card where both the Wi-Fi and Bluetooth will work with one antenna wire is this one:

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) part # L17365-005

The Intel 9461 is a CNVio card and will only work if your notebook originally came with one, which it did not.

The Intel 3168 requires two antenna wires or the Bluetooth will not work.

All Intel Wi-Fi cards except the 9461 require two antenna wires for the Bluetooth to work.
