Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have two problems.

1. System is very slow. I have only a few small applications installed, still lot of memory left. Not sure what is the issue. Ive stopped using Chrome but I still have the same issue. I was hoping having an SSD drive would speed things up but same problems

2. Internet keeps dropping. All the other laptops, phones in my house work perfectly but this new laptop keeps dropping wifi.

@Riazmohammad,

Good day. Thank you for stopping by the HP community. I reviewed the case and would love to assist you. Superb description and splendid analysis of the issue. Kudos to you for that.

  • Did it happen after a recent software or Windows update?
  • Was a there a power outage or surge before this occurred?

Let's try these steps first:

  • Perform all complete diagnostics from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-pavilion-15-cw0000-laptop-pc/20284015/model/22955195/documen... (HP PCs - Testing for Hardware Failures) follow complete instructions from the section "Run the Extensive Test (2 hours or more)".
  • If any component fails, make a note of the failure code for the failed component.

  • Ensure to run the wireless test also from the option "Component tests"
  • If any component fails, make a note of the failure code as the notebook needs to be repaired.

If diagnostics pass then perform all the prescribed steps from this link:https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04770630 (HP PCs - Computer Is Slow (Windows)

Follow steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06102177 (HP PCs - Improving PC Performance (Windows 10)

This should fix the slow performance issue.

For wireless issues perform all relevant steps from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04649175

(HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 10)

This should fix the issue if there are no hardware issues with the wireless module.

If the issue continues, then a great workaround would be is to buy a USB wireless dongle from Best Buy or Staples or from Amazon or e-bay and plug it to one of the USB ports of the computer. Then connect it to the router to go online. It is very economical and cost-effective and can be ordered for a song.

Good luck and keep me posted about the developments. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue and give the post a Kudos for my efforts to help. Thank you and have a great week ahead. 🙂
