Hi

The HP laptop purchased only had a 2.4Ghz Wifi card installed and wouldn't work at my daughters school after the education department disabled 2.4Ghz. I have since installed a 2.4/5Ghz pcie wifi card but get the following error.

Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_08B3&SUBSYS_80708086&REV_83\34DE1AFFFF36471400 requires further installation.

Card is a Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160. I have tried both the HP and Intel drivers for this card but it just won't start.

Do you have another driver that may assist?

Thanks

Why you installed Dual Band Wireless-AC 3160 to the machine ? Where did you download its driver ?

Regards.

Laptop only had single band WiFi and dual band as required. Drivers were downloaded from HP and then Intel. Both drivers do not work.

I read that. Sorry, my questions were not clear.

1. Any reason you pick that Intel 3160 card but not other ?

2. Which links (from Intel and HP) for its driver ?

The specs of your machine is
                    https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06588019

It has Realtek 802.11b/g/n (1x1) Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® 4.2 combo part # L21480-005

You can use wifi cards for the series:

  • Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11b/g/n/ac (1x1) and Bluetooth® 4.2 Combo
  • Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX 201 (2x2) and Bluetooth® 5 Combo (Supporting Gigabit file transfer speeds)

The Realtek RTL8821CE is easier because you do not need more antenna.
