HP Recommended
Spectre 13 X360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

After 2 decades of Thinkpads, I tried my chance with HP. Just got the Spectre.... and cannot get any Ethernet connection, which I need.

[EDIT: just been told by HP support that this high end computer is shipped without Ethernet port. Is that really possible? Is it a particularity of HP?]

-I found there is a hidden inactive "Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller" in the device manager. I tried to update the driver to no avail. I didn't dare to uninstall it as I feared it might disappear completel. Should I try it?

-I ran the HP network checks in HP Support Assistant and "HP PC Hardware Diagnostics" but wired connection is not even listed in Components Tests.

-Diagnostic from the UEFI/Bios reports no controller

-The virtual agent doesn't list the possibility of a connection issue

-I have waited most of the night on the chat, received an email with a case number with no indication what to do with it. The case doesn't appear in my registered profile

-I cannot seem to find a working chat or phone nr to raise it with HP Support Assistant, very different from my previous experiences!

Any help welcome
