Hello, im usually pretty good at sorting stuff out but just cant get this working!
I'm having to connect to wired through a dock into usb-c which works perfectly. I've installed drivers but just cant seem to get wifi working.
I have two identical machines and one is fine but this one doesn't want to play ball.
im actually starting to think that maybe there's something unplugged internally.
any ideas?

Hi Starbright,
Looks like the motherboard isn’t registering that there is a wifi module (soldered to motherboard) at all. The only way I can get internet to the machine is if I connect it to a targus hub via USB-c as the cat cable runs to it.
no wifi as it doesn’t recognise an adapter is present. Pulled it apart just 30 mins ago motherboard looks ok. One of the antennae cables isn’t attached as it’s broken. Can’t replace the wifi module as it’s soldered on. Can only try solder the cable direct to the module.
thanks
Mark

If I understand you right it is a hardware defect. If you are not sure you can try boot a linux and check if it will work. So you can exclude windows driver issues. Ubuntu Mate 18.04 runs Wifi out of the box (I guess many other too, but this I know for sure). No need to install, just run it from USB-stick.
Have you check that Wifi is enabled in BIOS? You mentioned it is not registered, so even no entry in device manager?
BTW: Maybe you can help me with two issues I have:
If your laptop is in either sleep or off - is your USB-C still powered?
What is the drain of battery in off and standby?
