I have no way to connect to a network on my HP Envy

Your Envy notebook uses Wi-Fi to connect to the internet. It does not use cellular.

It will support the 2.4ghz and the 5ghz bands and unless I am mistaken, it does not have an ethernet RJ-45 port.

If you have a modem / router then the router needs to have Wi-Fi unless you obtain a USB to Ethernet adapter.

If  you do not have a network at all, then you can use a smartphone as a hot spot and allow the Envy to connect to the smartphone through Wi-Fi

let me know if this does not answer your question as I am guessing at to the problem.
