Hp Envy 15 k005tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have Broadcom BCM43142 802.11 bgn Wi-Fi Adapter installed on my HP envy 15 k005tx notebook which is unble to connect my 5GHz wifi router.
I tried googling but still confused whether it supports 5GHz or not.

Moreover, will buying an external adapter like below one would help to resolve the issue if my notebook doesn't support 5GHz at all.

Thanks for your help.

Hi:

The BCM43142 802.11 bgn is only a single band wifi adapter that works on the 2.4 GHz wifi band.

Any time you see a wifi N adapter with a suffix that ends in bgn, that means it is a single band wifi adapter.

Dual band wifi N adapters have suffixes that end in abgn or agn.

Buying an external dual band wifi adapter like you posted will work just fine.
