Hi my HP laptop product number is 4JA86PA#ACJ and Serial [edit]

For some reason 5ghz WiFi networks are not showing up and I know that it is not a problem with the network because I am connecting to it on my other devices.

Does my model come with a WiFi chip that has the ability to connect to a 5ghz wifi? If it does what can possibly be the problem why it won’t show any 5ghz WiFi networks and what can I do to fix it??

I hope I gave you enough info to answer the question.

Thanks in advance.

Hi:

The Realtek RTL8723DE wifi adapter is a single band 2.4 GHz adapter only.

It cannot connect to 5.0 GHz wifi networks.

yep correct. even I noticed that too. could you please provide the solution for this?

The only solution would be to either replace/upgrade the internal wifi adapter, or purchase an external USB dual band wifi adapter.

You can only replace the RTL8723DE adapter with this one...

Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11 ac 1x1 WiFi + Bluetooth 4.2 Combo Adapter (MU-MIMO supported) HP part # L17365-005.

You can by the card on eBay...

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook...

The card will have the same throughput as the RTL8723DE on the 2.4 GHz wifi band, but on the 5.0 GHz band it will have a maximum throughput of 433 MBPS with an AC router.

Here are the latest drivers for the card.  You can install them now, as they are also good for the one you have now.
